Question | — |
Suggested edit hidden from mods and admins for deleted posts If a suggested edit is made on a question that has been deleted, the suggested edit is created successfully but does not show in the suggested edits list, even to users with the Curate ability (who can see the deleted question) or to moderators or admins. The suggested edit does show up in the not... (more) |

Question | — |
Authors and curators cannot find deleted posts When searching, deleted posts are excluded from the results for most users. The exception is that moderators and admins see deleted posts in search results. This is as expected, as moderators and admins can view deleted posts. However, a deleted post can also be viewed by the author of the deleted... (more) |

Question | — |
Deleted post hidden from everyone in the question list When a user deletes a question they posted, it shows with a notice which includes the following wording: >The author of this post decided to delete it. It can only be seen by users with the Curate privilege. I had expected that this would show up in the question list to users with the Curate ... (more) |

I've tested in a local development environment to confirm: voting (up and down) is still possible on a closed question.
This is how it happens to be at the moment, but anyone can propose a change to this on Meta, to see what the community decides. A discussion may provide more ideas too. For examp... (more) |

It may be worth raising specific feature requests as separate Meta posts.
I don't personally perceive the problems you mention, but I'm just one person.
For me, choosing a community from the drop down box at the top right is sufficient. It takes 2 clicks or 2 taps, and occasionally a scroll for... (more) |

I agree that the logo being a link to the specific community homepage is redundant. I'm just aware that it is the expected behaviour for many people, so I was wary of introducing surprising behaviour. (more) |

Ah I see. I was reading too literally. Even if the merging is just a user interface convenience, I wonder if some of the disadvantages might still apply. I'm not as certain when it's only a partial merge but still wary.
I think the Proposals community is already a big step up from the equivalent o... (more) |

I like the idea of the current community logo being a way of switching to another community, but most sites have their logo as a link to their homepage, so it might not be expected. I wonder if putting the downward pointing arrow next to the current community logo would be more intuitive. (more) |

Although I don't personally think an all-topics Q&A site would be effective, it may be that the problems could be solved and a future such site could work. I'd prefer that this experiment not be done with Codidact (and I'd vote against it if it were raised on the local Metas), but since the [code beh... (more) |

A: Observations on Codidact's presentation to the outside world Subtle difference, big change The difference between what we have now (a group of distinct communities) and what you propose (a single community with filters) seems subtle, but I believe the long term results would differ more than might be expected. Communities are self governed Each community ... (more) |

The list in the page footer is titled "Other Codidact Communities" whether you are on a Meta site or not. This isn't intended to treat any community as different. Whichever community you happen to be in, the footer lists the others.
I explain this for context, but I agree it could be clearer. Perh... (more) |

In addition to the dashboard, there is also the communities button, which is a downward pointing arrow in a box, at the top right of the page. Although a standard message might look odd for some communities, we could probably find something that would be a reasonable compromise for now, which I think would be an improvement over no message.

A: Clash between footnote numbering of posts on the same page This answer is just an example with a footnote so you can see the problem described in the question. Question | — |
Clash between footnote numbering of posts on the same page If a post uses a Markdown footnote, and then another post on the same page also uses a footnote (such as a question and one of its answers, or 2 answers to the same question), the footnote link goes to the first footnote of that number on the page, rather than the the footnote of that number in the s... Good point about unexpected use cases. When development time is available, I wonder if we could have multiple choice (the question and its answers) followed by the current post id approach as a fallback.

Will the moderator always want to attach the comment to either the question or one of its other answers? If there is never a need to choose any other post, could the dialog list the question and its answers rather than taking an id? This could be in the form of a list of posts, each showing the autho... From what I remember, Stack Overflow allows marking a question as a favourite, which as you say notifies of new answers, but it is also publicly visible (everyone can see the list of questions you have added as favourites).

That sounds useful. For a long time I included screenshots without a quote block. Once someone suggested quote blocks to me it seemed obvious, but I never thought of it myself, so having it in the help could make a difference. (more) |

A: Optional frames, borders or shadow around images I prefer no border for general images I would not want every image to be surrounded by a border. Images are added for many reasons, and in many cases a border would not be wanted. For example, a border around a photograph or a diagram could be distracting and would reduce the available width. I'... (more) |

Question | — |
"Could you answer this question?" for a well answered question In the right hand panel on Software Development Codidact I see the following: This links to a question which has had 4 well received answers for several months, so it made me wonder why this particular question has been chosen to have attention drawn to it. In the robots.txt file, a website can specify whether it wants search engines to crawl it for inclusion in search results. Even though Google provides both search and AI, these can be specified separately. A website can opt out of AI crawling while still opting in to search engine crawling. (more) |

For your first point, you may want to clarify whether you mean all crawlers or specifically AI data gathering crawlers. At present it isn't clear whether you mean to include search engine crawlers and archival crawlers, and people assuming you do or don't may be voting at odds with your intention. (more) |

I understand the desire to avoid making two switches if we can instead just wait and make one switch later. That's part of why I'm seeking feedback - if there's a solution out there that would work permanently rather than Codidact building its own, then we'd only need to switch once. If the existing ...
