Answer A: What gets on Hot Posts?
The code for the hot post selection can be found in the app/controllers/applicationcontroller.rb file (search for hotquestions). Eligible for Hot Posts are all Questions or Articles that - have any activity in the last seven days, - are in an eligible category (can be changed per-category) and...

Answer A: How to financially support the Codidact project?
It's great to hear that you are interested in helping us funding our project. That's like really excitingly awesome. Unfortunately, we don't want to accept donations until we have a proper legal structure, that can be held accountable. We don't want you to have to trust some of our team members th...

Comment Post #278544 @Moshi a coincidence of having exactly 30 non-staff people contributing so far in the specified timeframe. The board will show *all* people with relevant activity and the "What will you get icon" goes up until 50. Also, the list is cached so changes are not reflected instantly.

Comment Post #278608 @dzaima Yeah. What I need to know is whether it's enough to show the beginning of responses (sorted by score likely) or whether you definitely need-want a special "Response" post type with special properties (such as "name" or "size"; the exact columns would need to be defined later). The first thing...

Comment Post #278611 The sanitizer then removes the `<blockquote>` tag and hence it looks like the number (or dash or #) was removed. I think the right solution would be to make the Markdown generator know that we are in "inline Markdown" mode and hence not generate block-level stuff.

Comment Post #278611 Aye. So first of all this is a right place to write bug reports. If you want, you can also write on the per-community metas or on GitHub, but here's definitely fine. Furthermore, it appears that the issue isn't specifically with numbers followed by a dot but by everything that can cause Markdown to p...

Comment Post #278611 # testing whether this works This looks like an interesting bug and I *might* have an idea what's the issue.

Comment Post #278608 I *knew* that there would be a use case for the [ToC component](https://design.codidact.org/specific/toc/) some day. That seems like a good choice for the leaderboard, right? (as it is supposed to show the first line or so of the answer also by the previous design; do we need a special "size" column ...

Comment Post #278544 @OlinLathrop according to the global stats we had about 50 Q and 50 A per week over the last few weeks. Can't say for the current week, but of course this event also has the intention of increasing network participation ;)

Comment Post #278544 @PresidentJamesKPolk there is [this ca. 5 months old discussion](https://meta.codidact.com/questions/74964). If you want to talk about user base growth in general, this very Codidact Meta community is likely the proper place. If you want to talk about a specific community, there is a "Meta" category ...

Comment Post #278544 @Moshi in the current configuration the blog only supports articles (w/o answers) and I thought people might want to be able to post them (for congratulating, telling their favorite Codidact story or linking to their favorite post or whatever)

Question Codidact turns one; let's party (email for prizes sent)
Update (2020-12-29): I've sent emails to everyone who is eligible to get a t-shirt or stickers. I'm sorry that it took a while, but you know, life happens. It's been an interesting year so far and we're all volunteers. If you are eligible but haven't gotten the email, please check your spam folder an...

Comment Post #278536 @msh210 oops. Missed in the enumeration will add in a few mins. And we don't revoke already granted Abilities by design. Moderators have tools (suspension and deletion of the Ability) that allow to handle cases where users no longer "deserve" the Ability. If we see a need for automatic removal, we ca...

Answer A: Mod-warning a user results in suspension, even when "No" is selected for suspension
This has been completed. The system will now make sure to do what you ask it to do not what it assumes to be correct. Also, we added a tool to lift suspensions early, in case the suspension was errorneous.

Article The technical design behind Abilities
So... as promised, here's a post on how Abilites are designed. If you haven't already, read the official announcement for them, before continuing to read this post to get a high-level understanding of what Abilities are and how they are supposed to work from a user perspective. You might also want to...

Comment Post #278413 @Lundi those settings are shared between all categories, so all per-community metas have them too if the other categories have them.

Answer A: How do I turn off keyboard shortcuts?
This has been completed and will hopefully be deployed soon. Starting from then, you'll find a per-browser setting in your profile that will need to be explicitly enabled in order to be able to use the keyboard tools.

Answer A: Tag bar over keyboard shortcuts menu
This has been completed and is pending deploy. We set the z-index to an incredibly high Mersenne-prime, so this should no longer be an issue.

Answer A: Only send one notification per comment
This has been completed. The changes will hopefully be deployed soon. Now, the author of the parent post will no longer be pinged if mentioned. However, it might be possible, that this means that the second mentioned user won't get a notification, too, so only ping the author when neccessary (beca...

Comment Post #278234 @JonEricson yeah, we used Discourse prior to this Meta site for coordination and the current Abilities system is heavily inspired by them. We currently don't track or intend to track reading and page visits. Also AFAICT, reading time generally requires JS to be active, which we intend not to demand f...

Comment Post #278310 @FoggyFinder there has been some more internal discussion regarding the deleted answer. We'll post an update soon, which will contain our new stance on that specific post. Unfortunately, this post seems to have been misinterpreted by most people (including me) to be mostly about the one specific post...

Comment Post #278310 I changed the title because this question seems to be more to be about a specific post rather than deletion in general. If this isn't what you intended, please revert and clarify.

Comment Post #278289 We can feature stuff network-wise (as the Abilities thing currently) if they are super-important. Also, we also look at per-Community metas and don’t miss discussions there.

Comment Post #278274 Yeah. I was the one adding the tag and declining the flag. As you said, I saw the one part as a "request/suggestion" rather than discussion, which could be status-declined. Also, I added the tag to make the answer more "official Codidact reply"-like.

Comment Post #278234 And about comments: The rate limits can be edited by per-site. So we can react to sites where comments-as-answers are a problem. I'd leave the limit at 0 for now and revisit this later when we have actual data to verify.
