@MathPhysics I don't want to speak in absolutes. We'll want to *discuss* it and make sure the overlap can be addressed. There can be more than one community for a topic; people just have to be able to tell where to go for what. For example, we wouldn't block a general engineering site because EE e... (more) |

A: Launching a new community with enough contributors even though disagreements exist One of the things we look for in a new site is enough interested participants to make it viable. We now ask people to make their interest known, because votes don't necessarily correlate with intended participation. Sometimes an upvote means "I want this" and sometimes it means "yeah, that sounds l... (more) |

A: Add the ability to customize suspended user profile blurb We don't have a custom reason yet, but there is now a third option: no public reason. This means you don't have to give a wrong reason, even if you can't customize a right reason. (more) |

A: I cannot understand the meaning of some downvotes In an ideal world, bug reports and support requests would be a separate stream from discussions and feature requests. We work with the tools we have, while also working to improve them. (A few people have reported software bugs on GitHub, which is fine too but not something we'd want to require.) ... (more) |

To explain how it got there in this case: someone provided a link to an image in a comment, I wanted to incorporate the image into the answer, and I didn't want to save it just to upload it so I instead used the URL directly. When our image-upload process can accept a URL and not just a file, this p... (more) |

I think to move forward, this proposal needs a more fleshed-out scope proposal. Please review the comments and answers here and edit as you think appropriate. Thanks. (more) |

@Zerotime completely my fault; this has grown beyond an idea at this point, has people interested in building it, and needs to flesh out scope some including doing something about the issues raised here. (Scope can be worked out more on a live site, but getting a basic shape of it here is good.) I'... (more) |

@FoggyFinder yes it's supposed to be +5 for questions, +10 for answers or articles, -2 for downvotes. I think there might be a bug; checking with folks. (more) |

A: Was score system changed? Various things, not all of them understood, affect the accuracy of the reported reputation number. For example, sometimes a post is deleted or undeleted but the reputation adjustments don't get made. A system-wide reputation recalculation updates rep numbers by recomputing all of them. An admin ... (more) |

Questions deleted by users can be deleted in error, so while it's *usually* spam or trolling, there could also be a misunderstanding, language barrier, overzealous deleter, or whatever. (more) |

Our use cases/wireframes call for a pop-up that invites you to sign in; I guess we haven't gotten there yet with the code. (This should apply to any control that's visible but requires that you be signed in.) (more) |

Meta actually does have a Meta, because it's baked into the site-setup code, and it took a few days for us to get rid of it. While it was there it confused people, but I admit we never created Meta Meta Meta where people could ask questions about Meta Meta. (more) |

A: Block adding answers and editing of question/answers of deleted questions. I strongly agree that being able to add a new answer after a question has been deleted doesn't make sense, and that most people also shouldn't be able to add comments. (Moderators should be able to, and see the comments for another suggestion.) I think the author should be able to edit a deleted ... (more) |

"recent deletions" moderator tool produces error The "recent deletions" link under mod tools is consistently returning a 500 server error for me. One reference: `2ba998b1-84b1-4675-aeb8-bebcf3465b5f` I've tried this on two sites. It's been a few days since I last accessed this tool anywhere, so I can't pin down when this behavior might have st... (more) |

@Olin I don't see how that's different from misapplied tags now. People sometimes use the wrong tag because they assumed from the name it was one thing when it's actually meant to be something else. I'm saying we shouldn't allow both "apple" and "Apple" to be tags on the same site; that'll just add... (more) |

Interesting idea. We could extend the [use case for suggesting a duplicate](https://github.com/codidact/feature-development/blob/master/scoped/flag/duplicate.md) to add a checkbox for the supersede case; I don't know if there are better ways. Right *now* duplicate is part of the close flow like on ... (more) |

A: Should we allow capitalized tags? I think tags should be case-preserving and also case-independent. By this I mean: I do not want us to have two tags that differ only in capitalization, because I think that will lead to errors and confusion. (If you need tags for "apple" the fruit and "Apple" the company on the same site, find some... (more) |

@aCVn yeah, automated someday, but I think we're gambling that the load won't be so high as to preclude manual handling in the window between now and when we can implement that. (more) |

A: Community Wiki Posts I think you're asking about what SE calls community wiki, as opposed to the community user. On SE, the Community user owns things that are otherwise ownerless, like posts from deleted users. Community wiki, on the other hand, is a status that an individual post has, meaning "make it easy for people... (more) |

@Mithical that'd be a problem with the *user account*, though; it's not that we'd be saying "you can be here but can't be a mod" but, rather, we'd be saying "GDPR says you can't be here, sorry!". @ArtOfCode TOS violations would be problems; I wasn't thinking of that as a legal issue, but maybe I'm t... I want the community to be protected from rogue team members too. What's an example of a legal issue forcing the team's hand? I have guesses but don't know enough about law (especially on an international site) to know if they're reasonable. (more) |
