Comment Post #277314 I don't know what that symbol is supposed to be. It looks like a bell to me. I often have trouble with emoji and uncommon Unicode symbols, though. Maybe Art can enlighten us. :-)

Comment Post #276997 @DonielF it's still pretty subjective, sorry. I see two enthusiastic people and several more casual. On the one hand it'd be nice to have another core user or two, but on the other hand, this list includes several people who are already active on Codidact, so more likely to "stick". I'm going to b...

Comment Post #277268 @JulioCezarSilva thanks for the feedback. (I'm new to Figma; can you tell? :-)) We've been planning to use the right column for other (supplementary) information, yes -- meaning if it drops out/down on a phone we haven't affected the core functionality, and it gives us a place to put things we'd like...

Answer A: Is there a consensus on comment layouts for the MVP and beyond?
Thank you for raising this question. We've been a little vague in our plans for comments, aside from (irony alert) comment threads in some Figma wireframes that aren't the most visible. Speaking for myself and not for the team: I use TopAnswers too, and the sidebar chat works ok on a desktop ...

Answer A: Is there a consensus on comment layouts for the MVP and beyond?
We have some early, crude wireframes showing our ideas on comment threading: collapsed threads under a post, expanded thread. Be sure to turn on the comments view. It looks like you need a Figma account to see comments (free, but it's still one more account to manage), so I've added some screenshot...

Comment Post #277253 Those are different votes. The community will elect the panel, through some process to be determined. The first election will seat seven members; the three who finish in positions 5, 6, and 7 will get one-year terms. It's not related to site activity, votes on posts, trust levels, etc.

Comment Post #277250 Is this something that could be addressed (by users who want it) with a little custom CSS (using a browser extension like Stylus)?

Answer A: Need a mathematics Q&A site
Scope Please edit this; I am not a mathematician and am deriving this from activity on this proposal. Scope for this site would include: - all branches of theoretical and applied math: algebra, category theory, arithmetic and number theory, combinatorics, topology, measure theory and probabi...

Comment Post #277224 Medical professionals will generally not *diagnose* without seeing the patient anyway, for reasons of both liability and professional ethics. But they (and others) could still provide useful *information*. How much to do so is entirely up to the answerer. (By the way, we can give the site a "profe...

Question Could "last activity" link to where it happened (e.g. specific answer)?
On a list of questions or posts, each entry has a "last activity" indicator showing who last changed it and when. Would it be possible to have "last activity" be a link to the post that changed? Particularly on questions with many answers (like some meta and challenge posts), I'd really appreciate ...

Comment Post #277220 Do you want this info passively (like for skimming), or just actively (without clicking through, have I voted on this?)? We have a design (thus far not implemented) for an "expanded view in place" on the list page; its main purpose is to summarize answers, but maybe we could add this if that would m...

Comment Post #277186 @aCVn there's a spectrum, which is why I asked. "How do I get Quicken to..." is clearly too general; "how do I report royalty income in such-and-such tax jurisdiction" isn't *music*-specific but is more narrow so might be in; "how does Harry Fox (a music-specific agency for handling royalties) repor...

Answer A: Music site, for both fans and musicians
Are questions about business aspects of music also in scope? Issues such as: - securing licenses & paying royalties when performing others' works - finding and negotiating for performance venues - managing your sales (accounting, taxes, etc) - agents I don't have an opinion for or against. ...

Answer A: Music site, for both fans and musicians
Right now we don't have a good way of identifying people who would help build a new community, so let's do this: if you are interested in helping to build this site, please either leave a comment or edit this post describing your level of interest (casual visitor, enthusiast, expert in this topic wit...

Comment Post #277180 Maybe we should put it back at the top. This has come up a few times. I asked for it to come after the body because I've seen a *lot* of questions where the title doesn't match what the asker ended up asking about by the end of the body, but maybe we should instead just give newer posters a "please...

Comment Post #277101 @Olin the context of this discussion is privilege-enablement, which is currently done by rep and which it sounds like you agree *should not be*. Privileges should arise from trust earned by doing things on the site.

Answer A: What's a relation between trust levels across various Co-communities?
The prerequisites for various site activities (currently reputation, to be replaced with trust levels) are configurable per site. The difference you're seeing for voting isn't so much intentional as an artifact. The default is to let even brand-new users have a few votes per day, and that's the set...

Answer A: Hide Deleted Comments
I, too, find that the deleted comments get in the way, but I'd propose a simpler structure. We mods and admins don't need to see the entire structure in an overview; we just need to know that there are deleted comments (and how many) and have a way to show them. I propose that there are three state...

Comment Post #277072 Maybe embedding a poll in another post would work better, so the poll can be part of a larger Q&A about a topic (site proposal, site policy discussion, choosing topics for challenges, whatever).

Article Help us help you: please show your support for site proposals
Our network now has eight sites (plus Meta), and we hope to see many more as we continue to develop both our platform and our communities. As we've worked with communities to build the sites we have now, we've found ourselves adjusting how we go about deciding when a site is ready. We are tryin...
