This seems to do nothing to address the issues I raised in https://meta.codidact.com/posts/283073#answer-283073 and also raises another issue, namely that categorization via tags (because especially, but not exclusively, abbreviations) can mean very different things to different communities and in di... *"Quora and Stack Exchange and Codidact can all exist alongside each other, serving different needs"* And Twitter, and TikTok, and WeChat, and Facebook, and WhatsApp, and Dreamwidth, and... well, I guess my point is that I agree that just because something exists out there that doesn't mean that Codi... @#8046 There is another issue with a "copy link" actual action link that does what it says on the tin. If I misclick, and that causes valuable information that I have on the clipboard to be overwritten, I am *not* going to be happy about that. If I misclick on "link", about the *worst* that will happ... (more) |

Your question actually contains two very different questions:
\* "Is there any disadvantages for Quora-like community?"
\* "Codidact is copy-paste idea of SE. Do you have any excuse on it?"
The title suggests that you are focusing on the first, and that's what the recently posted answer focu... (more) |

This now has almost a dozen people who have actively expressed varying degrees of interest. Maybe time to revisit this with regards to the needs-people tag? It was @#8046 who added that tag way back when. (more) |

@#53922 "Copy Link" to me implies an action, which seems inappropriate here unless the actual intent is to overwrite the user's clipboard contents (which I hope it is not; that's a dangerous thing to do with an unguarded link). "permalink" or just "link" seems a better term. But right now the UI incl... (more) |

Question | — |
Multiple permalink links in comments I noticed that there are now suddenly two permalink-target links in comments. From a question page (on a comment posted by another user): Screenshot showing '🔗 Permalink' and 'link' links on gray background From a comment thread page (this particular comment happens to be mine): Screensho... Question | — |
"Body is too short" error when posting middle-click-pasted answer with no changes Something caused posting an answer to fail for me (the web interface just sat there, the "Save Post" button disabled, but nothing further happened). To recover, I copied the text of the answer into a separate window, force-reloaded the page with the question, and then proceeded to select the text in ... (more) |

Answer | — |
A: How to refer members of community B to a question in community A which suits both communities? You don't. At least not as you discuss here. (There is the possibility of answers to a question in one community having relevance to a different question asked on another community; that's a separate case.) Ignoring for a moment the specific question you're referring to, it's extremely rare for an... (more) |

Question | — |
Allow comment thread owner to delete comment threads when only comments from the comment thread owner remain undeleted I realize that there's a handful of trickier cases, for example anything involving multiple users, but this particular case should be relatively straight-forward. I propose that if the only undeleted comments in a comment thread are owned by the user who started the comment thread, then the user w... (more) |

This sounded promising, but when I was pinged in https://software.codidact.com/comments/thread/3801 after this answer was posted, I didn't receive any inbox notification at all. Something like that might work. It would certainly serve the purpose in terms of reducing repetitition in the dropdown. As for development, it shouldn't be much harder than something like `SELECT parent_post_id, notification_type, COUNT(*) FROM notifications GROUP BY parent_post_id, notification_type... (more) |

@#53922 I'm not quite sure what you mean with your #2, but as for #1, while that's a valid point, the size of the dropdown and the size of each notification combine to show only about three notifications at once, which (especially as they aren't grouped together by post, but simply listed in reverse ... I'm really curious what the downvotes to this suggestion mean. Do they mean "no, duplicate notifications are useful", or is there something about the suggestion itself that could be improved such as, say, it's unclear what is being proposed? (more) |

Preview post diff before saving It's possible to view the differences between two adjacent, existing revisions of a post through the History feature. Question | — |
Don't add duplicate notifications if an unread notification for the same event type and parent post already exists I was away from Codidact for a few hours and, coming back, saw that I had ⑨ unread notifications. Practically as I was watching it, the number grew to ⑩. This wouldn't be so bad, but it turned out that they really were for just three comment threads. Getting one notification for each comment... A: How can I effortlessly spawn new, unused URLs to the same question on Codidact? I'm not familiar with Reddit. Still, reasoning generally: "nobody ever sees my submitted link" doesn't imply that the behavior isn't in violation of the rules there, let alone that the behavior is ethical. Also, pretty much by your own admission, "nobody ever sees my submitted link" is at least... (more) |

A: Is it possible to delete account community-wise? You only have one account across all of \.codidact.com, so you can't delete it on a per-community basis. See for example the fact that your user ID (number) is the same on all sites, and that the login credentials are the same on all sites. However, if you simply no longer want some content to be ...
