Comment Post #290860 Validating length after stripping unsupported HTML seems like a good idea to me. In contexts where the minimum length is longer, this would look like a post (not a blank page) and people would want to know why the length wasn't enforced.

Comment Post #290855 Hi meta guy, and I'm sorry about the experience you had when you were just trying to help. We'll get this figured out somehow -- I don't want that to drag you down either.

Answer A: Minor suggested edits to old posts
One of the linked questions, about not bumping minor edits, has a suggestion that would have helped in this case: allow edit reviewers to decide if an edit is minor. For that to happen, at last two people were involved, and the owner of the post is also notified of the edit suggestion. If we did ju...

we did resolve it, and then we replaced that category with the Proposals site, so this is all "overcome by events" now

Comment Post #290764 Maybe a filter option for "my favorite tags"? You can filter on tags now, but you have to maintain that manually and we already have the concept of favorite tags, so maybe we can build on that?

Answer A: A refactoring convenience function.
Sometimes a brain dump is a bunch of questions and answers, and in that case (as suggested in another answer) it's best to do the "dump + refine" step separately and post when ready. That way people don't see, and consider answering, questions that aren't yet ready for attention. Other times a br...

Comment Post #290699 I'll have to defer to the developers for a more detailed answer, but I believe we are using third-party libraries for Markdown support, not rolling our own.

Answer A: Markdown table alignment only renders correctly in preview
Column alignment in tables now produces a warning that it won't render in the final post (it's part of the "unrecognized HTML" warning). Also, the editor preview now shows the same formatting as the final post, with all columns left-aligned. I'm sorry we couldn't fix it the other way, by supporti...

Comment Post #283318 Would you be interested in making this proposal on our new [proposals site](https://proposals.codidact.com/help/proposals), where people can also start asking and answering questions right away to test out the idea? From the votes it looks like this proposal has a lot of merit; are you still interes...

Answer A: I can close my own question by myself, but not reopen it
I agree that we probably do want people to be able to self-close,[^1] as a way to signal "I know this needs work" that's less destructive than deletion. If we allow that, though, then we should do one of the following: - In the close modal where you choose a reason, if you are the author and you ...

Answer A: Inconsistent tagged question counts
The tag count incorrectly includes deleted questions. I see that the GitHub bug tracking this is marked "easy", so I'll see if I can find the relevant query and fix it. (No promises, as I'm pretty green when it comes to Ruby, but I'll try! I've touched a few lines of Ruby code! :-) ) Update 202...

Comment Post #290623 I wouldn't worry about that, Michael. The questions were unclear and the author didn't respond to requests for improvement, so they were eventually deleted. They weren't off-topic and new questions are welcome.

Answer A: Enhancing community involvement with per-site Help Centers
> In particular, it appears that community moderators are able to edit the per-community Help Center documents (e.g. this listing for Meta itself) and perhaps add new ones. Yes. Community moderators can edit all help topics except the network-policy ones. A community's Meta category is a good pl...

Answer A: How should we phase out the Site Proposals category?
The Site Proposals category is only shown to logged-in users, the text at the top points to the new proposals site, the "post" button says "not here" and refers to the new site, and if you try to post anyway, it shows a big READ ME FIRST message pointing to the new site. We could hide the entire c...

Answer A: Recent feature changes to the Codidact software
October 2024 - The user profile now includes the "all communities" tab, which links to all of the user's profiles on the network. Along with each link it shows the total number of posts and reputation on that community, and if the user is a moderator there, shows that information. This is "versi...

Answer A: Add pending suggested edits to the dashboard
Pending edits are now shown on the dashboard in places where you have the Edit Posts ability (or are a moderator or admin) -- that is, where you can do something about those edits: screen shot from a test server To further improve visibility of pending edits, we've also added cross-references (...

Comment Post #290495 I've been seeing more of this lately too, and as an admin I can see everything. I've raised it internally -- don't know if it's a code bug or something wonky with the redis cache.
