Comment Post #289294 It looks like you planned on including a footnote that didn't make it into the final draft. The footnote should probably be added or the marker removed :)

Answer A: What should I do when I come across PII in a post?
We've just released a new feature that allows for redaction of revision histories. This feature was originally developed by @Taeir for use in his university's private instance in order to redact cases where students would post exam answers. After some discussion, where we decided that this would b...

Question What should I do when I come across PII in a post?
Sometimes, posts can accidentally contain personal information that shouldn't be out on the internet, such as real names, real IP addresses, home addresses, or other pieces of PII (Personally Identifiable Information). As a user, I can edit the post to remove it (or suggest an edit), but even then...

Comment Post #289058 I'm not sure. That would be consistent, but maybe it should stay in the "active" tab and display "upcoming" instead of "yes"?

Question Move featured links to the "inactive" section once their end date has passed
When featuring links on the sidebar, moderators have the option of setting a start and end date for when that link will be featured. This works properly; once the stated date is past, that link will no longer show up as featured in the sidebar. However, it does still show up in the "active" sectio...

Comment Post #289020 Due to the (actual and perceived) conflict of interest with being involved here on Codidact and SE, I've been somewhat avoiding promoting CD directly in SE spaces, due to being a strike negotiator. I don't want anybody to be able to accuse me of sabotaging SE by organizing a strike in order to help C...

Comment Post #289020 I think you've addressed most of the important points here, thank you. As to why I'm specifically still active on SE (although on strike right now) - during my time there as a moderator and user, I've made a lot of friends on the network, who I don't really have ways of connecting with otherwise. ...

Comment Post #288951 It might even make sense to have this be adjustable on a community-level basis, not just network-level. For instance, the TTRPG community could have a Roll20 account field, while Software Dev has GitHub.

Comment Post #288896 Yeah, I think we should take Moderator out of that list, for exactly that reason. I'm ambivalent on removing the "Abilities" heading for mods; we might add other features that can be suspended on a case-by-case basis, such as suggesting edits, which would be separate from the blocks of features that...

Answer A: Inconsistent use of "abilities" and "privileges"
I believe that this is actually intentional and not a bug, because these pages serve different purposes. The /abilities page shows the abilities you can earn through your usage of the community. That's user-oriented, and part of the Abilities feature set. The /priveleges page, though, is a bit ...

Answer A: Is there a test community where you can try out Codidact functionality without bothering people?
Yes. We have two testing environments, https://a.dev.codidact.org/ and https://b.dev.codidact.org/. These are used for testing out new features and fixes before they go live on production, so you may have a slightly different experience, but it can also be used as a sandbox for testing things out. Th...

Answer A: Images fail to load when previewed or saved
We've just done a migration on the backend of where the images are being hosted (moving from old infrastructure to the dedicated Codidact infrastructure). This should just be a caching issue for now; if it lasts much longer, I'll poke the relevant people with sharp sticks.

Comment Post #288402 > Once a privilege is unlocked, can it be removed again from the frontend? In particular, can adjustments to the qualifications, or "win conditions" cause existing privileges to be added or removed? Technically, yes. Moderators have the ability to suspend individual abilities. If you've earned an...

Comment Post #288194 We're not here to be an intermediary between people and AI, @#53023. If someone wanted to ask an AI they can do that directly. At a bare minimum, I'd expect someone to verify an answer that was generated from somewhere and include that verification in the answer.

Comment Post #288194 That would have to be determined on a community-level basis, @#53489. I don't believe that we currently have a community where that would be on-topic, although the Power Users and Software Dev folks can correct me if I'm wrong.

Article Clarifying Codidact's position on AI-generated content
Given recent controversies on various platforms involving AI-generated content, which have resulted in some attention being directed towards our platform, we wanted to clarify where we stand when it comes to this issue. Presenting AI-generated content as your own work is a violation of our policie...

Answer A: License CC BY-SA 3.0 only available on Writing and Outdoors
Writing and Outdoors both originally imported content from Stack Exchange, which was licensed under CC BY-SA 3.0[^1]. As such, they needed to have that license available on those posts. Since then, the vast majority of the imported posts have been removed, and I agree that it doesn't make sense to...

Answer A: Does "site" mean "community" or "Codidact" on License field?
"site" in this instance currently refers to the individual community. Yes, this should be standardized; we generally use "community" for each subdomain and "network" for all the communities hosted on .codidact.com (and Collab). "Codidact" can be ambiguous; it can refer to the network, to the organ...

Answer A: Any self-hosting devs here?
Questions about self-hosting or running your own Codidact instance can be asked on Codidact Collab. We spun up that site to host questions and answers about the software running our platform. There are definitely people running their own instances of our software; I know that at least @Taeir is do...

Answer A: Mentioned `d` shortcut not yet showing or working
The "d" keyboard shortcut follows the syntax of other keyboard shortcuts that take you to a different page. Pressing the "g" key - the "go to..." shortcut - and then "d" will take you to the dashboard.
