@10Rep this is why I want a small, well-defined set. And Lundin's suggestion to tie to to an ability is sound. We don't want to emulate Discord here. (more) |

On the other hand, we had hoped that Cooking, already a broader interest, would flourish in the pandemic. (more) |

Question | — |
How should we make pending edit suggestions more visible? Each category header includes an "Edits" link, which is a link to a list of pending suggested edits in the current category. But nothing alerts people with the ability to approve those edits that something is waiting, other than that the author of the post gets a notification. This means that somet... (more) |

A: Should there be a community here for Linux users? Linux, Unix, both? Other answers here talk about Linux, Unix, and Unix-like systems. Neither of the scope posts has a lot of votes yet (and we can see that WSL is controversial). Is this a Linux-only community or broader? What's the one-line summary we could present to people who casually come ... (more) |

DIdn't work for me either. I wonder if we missed something in the work to generalize posts and the nomination code is looking for a *question* specifically. (That's an article.) Granted, if you do nominate an article it's still going to say "can you answer this question?", which isn't ideal (and the... (more) |

I've never been sure, when editing, whether to delete them for tidiness or preserve them for community verification that I'm not putting words in people's mouths or something. I'm happy to go either way if there's a consensus. (more) |

A: Do we need the drop down menu at the upper right corner to link to all other communities? We added that drop-down menu in response to requests from community members. Yes there's a link in the footer (and that has been brought up before), but many feel that we need something a little more prominent. A widget in the header also helps with discovery; people who visit a Codidact community ... (more) |

Would questions of the form "what have been the consequences of legislation X in jurisdictions that have enacted it" be in scope? (Obviously with qualifications to keep it from being too broad.) That is, we don't want opinion-based questions about whether a policy or law is good, but are questions ... (more) |

We have another (not-very-developed) proposal for a Biology community, so marking this one as a duplicate. Folks who are interested in this topic, please help develop a scope and build up a group of people to start it. (more) |

@Moshi I don't see a way to do it through the admin UI. (Moderators can change *close* reasons, which covers most of what's needed for questions, but I don't see a way to change *flag* reasons, which could apply to other post types.) That seems worth a feature request for the future (more) |

@Moshi that's not one of the configuration options right now, but I can ask the devs how wired-in that is. (I don't know how easy or hard it is to expose it.) (more) |

A: What customizations are available on Codidact? Site-level settings These settings apply across all parts of a community. Unless the category-level settings say otherwise, they can't be overridden for individual categories. General: - Name - Color scheme (there's a menu; we can't change to arbitrary color values) - Default category (usua... (more) |

Question | — |
What customizations are available on Codidact? On Codidact, lots of things can be customized for individual communities. Generally these changes need to be made by admins, but we'll make them on request. But what are all these things? What can communities customize? (Eventually this will be a help topic, but while things are under active de... (more) |

@10Rep yes, if you have content on SE that fits a community here (like Photography), please feel free to bring it over. If you can make it better (update for anything else you've learned since then, etc), that's even better. (more) |

A: Transferring my questions and answers from StackOverflow and other SE sites As this answer says, yes, absolutely -- it's your work and you're free to post it here. While you're doing so, please see if you can improve it too. Instead of just copying stuff, let's make it better on Codidact. And if you want to import answers, the best approach is to re-ask the question in ... (more) |
