Answer A: Has anyone seen my unicorn?
Alas, our unicorn herders have gone missing, and we don't know when they'll return. For now, we've just pushed a change to generate boring avatars for people who were using unicorns. We still hope to get our wandering unicorns back, either from the original server or by running our own, but in the ...

clarification - the rep values are changes for the author of the post, not for the voter
over 3 years ago
Comment Post #283406 Sorry for the ambiguity. What's configurable is the rep change for the *recipient* of the vote. The voter's reputation doesn't change and we don't have a way to configure that.

Comment Post #280723 @#53078 we don't currently have rep changes for *casting* votes, so that's not configurable right now. There's an interesting discussion to be had there, I think: is rep loss the best way to keep downvoting in check, or is it just what we're used to from Somewhere Else? Should voting be limited in s...

We now don't let you enter a too-short comment (button is disabled). All bets are off if you find a way to bypass the client check; I don't know what the server will return if you send something too short.

Comment Post #283364 Are you visiting the links in the same tab, or are you launching other tabs? The notification doesn't "notice" that you've visited it if you open the link in another tab. (I'm not sure why. I don't think it's intentional so much as "how that code works".) If a notification is hanging around way p...

Answer A: Delete the [<i>test</i>] tag.
Done. I also found and nuked [my-test], [status-this-is-a-test], and [somebody-test] (eliding the identity of "somebody"). We, uh, need a way to make newly-created tags more visible for community review. Our longer-term plans include restricting who can create tags, but for new or young communit...

Answer A: Answers order is changed when we access a specific answer by its direct link
I'm not sure how intentional it is, but it's a known change to fix a related bug. Until recently, if you followed a direct link to an answer that wasn't on the first page of the post, that action failed and you got redirected to the question instead. I'm not sure of all the details, but apparently ...

Comment Post #283336 It's a different place in the code but the same problem, so we should look to see what we did to fix the paste problem for posts (recent change) and apply the same pattern for comments and any other textboxes we can think of where it might be relevant.

Comment Post #283334 Oops. Thanks. I have an edit pending, but we need to fix a small bug before I can post it, so as soon as we do that we'll get this fixed. On *meta* there's no need to point to the global FAQ and ToS at *all*; Meta is already, well, meta, not a primary subject-matter community.

Comment Post #283318 Codidact does not make any claims of ownership; authors own their content. We require that it be *licensed* to us so that we can actually have that content on our public communities.

Comment Post #283318 If there is another license that makes sense to add for this community, we can do that. But any license must grant *us* the ability to publish and edit the content (part of normal operations), so it can't be "no rights".

Comment Post #283229 How would knowing specific votes help moderators? Knowing if there is a *pattern* of voting between two users can help in some cases, but for that you don't need to know the specific votes. For now, detecting voting abuse falls to the people with database access (mods should ask for help if they su...

Answer A: Should we show length of character for each "things"?
You will now see a length indicator for post titles, post bodies, and thread titles when you're approaching the limit. (I'm not real sure from reading the code, but I think it shows up when you get to 75% of the limit.) We chose this approach, as opposed to showing and updating the count with every...

Answer A: Allow comment thread owner to delete comment threads when only comments from the comment thread owner remain undeleted
This is fixed using the approach Mithical suggested in a comment: when the last comment in a thread is deleted, the thread is now automatically deleted.
