Comment Post #279062 @1muflon1‭ thanks for explaining! It does sound like the two should not mingle, then. The idea is for each community to build *a* community, not multiple co-located ones that don't interact. :-)

Comment Post #279095 @KalleMP‭ I don't see a comment from you (even deleted). Is it possible you clicked the "discard" button instead of the "post" button?

Answer A: Implement duplicate up-down vote buttons
For the buttons, I propose something bolder: don't duplicate them, move them. The logical time to make a voting decision is when you've read a post, so I agree they belong at the bottom. But why have them at the top? Currently we bundle the reporting of existing votes and the voting buttons toge...

Comment Post #279064 I've closed this here, as it is a community-specific matter that is more properly discussed on Languages & Linguistics Meta. You are welcome to bring it up there, taking into account the feedback you got here.

Comment Post #279091 Do you mean on the question list? That does work here on the individual question, but it looks like it doesn't work there and I agree it ought to.

Answer A: Have permalink button show a popup instead of redirecting
The Permalink control now allows you to copy a working URL for the post through the usual browser affordance (right-click + "copy URL" on desktop browsers, long-press on touch interfaces). Oddly, it's not the same URL you get if you actually click the control, but at least you can get a working link...

Comment Post #279067 Also, one of the communities here that initially imported (almost) everything from Somewhere Else is now discussing deleting those imports, because they did not serve us well. *Selective* importing is valuable, but bulk importing turned out not to be.

Comment Post #279063 Welcome to Codidact. This suggestion would work better as a possible refinement of [this one](https://meta.codidact.com/questions/279001). As for tags, we use "idea" when the proposal is more early-stage and "proposal" when it's farther along. I admit that's kind of fuzzy. The other purpose of the...

Comment Post #279062 See also: [proposal for economics](https://meta.codidact.com/questions/277995). Yes I know that accounting and economics are not the same thing, but some who are interested in accounting might also be interested in economics.

Answer A: Site for Where is This? Identifying Places in pictures?
"Where is this?" sounds like an interesting part of a community, but I'm having trouble imagining a community forming around just that. More specifically, I could see this being part of a general puzzles community, or as part of a travel community, or -- with restricted scope -- part of Outdoors. ...

Comment Post #279039 Oh, I see -- the history bit is pulling last activity for the *page*, the same value that's shown in the question list, instead of for the post.

Comment Post #41993 @Lundin status-pending means we're planning to launch it. We think the CG proposal has enough interested, enthusiastic users to launch. status-needs-people means we don't think there are enough people yet to support a proposed site; it's a call to action to say you're interested (if you are) and sh...

Comment Post #278500 Thanks @1muflon1‭! I'll ask the dev team to look at it. Since I (accidentally) neglected this for a few weeks and we've deployed other changes, I just wanted to check back first before doing that.

Comment Post #278968 Argh. Why does it happen to laserkittens and not to me? (Also why should the renderer care *how* the markdown got generated, but that's a different question.)

Comment Post #278500 Did one of your edits fix this, or did some other change fix the bug? The linked post looks like it has the correct numbering now, but I can't tell if that's because you found a workaround or because it's working now.

Comment Post #278969 Wow, this is getting weirder. I copied the source of your answer into mine, and it works -- exact same Markdown! Could you try copying my first one into yours?

Comment Post #278969 Any idea what the difference is between your reproducer and my non-reproducer? (I used the same link target as in the answer that's linked from the question, the one that displayed the error until I edited).

Answer A: Possible Markdown rendering issue
Test cases (all look fine in the preview): Link text edited to include period. Link text contains no punctuation. Other punctuation too? What about comma, or exclamation point! -- Copying text from the other answer to see if who posts it makes a difference (I sure hope not): Th...

Comment Post #278967 Weird! Sorry to mess up your test case with an experiment, but I edited the post to move the period out of the link (the original text had "in this proposal." as the link text) and that fixed it. I don't know *why* that should matter.

Comment Post #278957 Sounds like a question about the math for crypto would be on-topic either on this community or on Math, and the asker would choose based on focus or personal preference. That's fine; scopes overlap sometimes.

Answer A: How does voting on site proposals work?
I don't understand those voting patterns either. Because people vote for all sorts of reasons, ranging from "I enthusiastically support this" to "that sounds reasonable to me (but I wouldn't participate" to "I think there are serious flaws" to "I am opposed to any site about X regardless of the meri...
